1. Publicly acknowledge (a significant or happy day or event) with a social gathering or enjoyable activity. “They were celebrating their wedding anniversary at a restaurant"
 
Synonyms: commemorate, observe, mark, keep, honor, remember, memorialize (a birthday or anniversary).

2. Perform (a religious ceremony) publicly and duly, in particular officiate at (the Eucharist).
"He celebrated holy communion"

3. Honor or praise publicly.

"A film celebrating the actor's career"

Synonyms: praise, extol, glorify, eulogize, reverence, honor, pay tribute to;

Acclaimed, admired, highly rated, lionized, revered, honored, esteemed, exalted, vaunted, well-thought-of, ballyhooed, eminent, great, distinguished, prestigious, illustrious, preeminent, estimable, notable, of note, of repute, storied.

 What does this mean?  It means something that is stitched to celebrate something, i.e. a birth announcement, anniversary, LIFE, graduation.  Did you make something special to celebrate your LOVE for another?  Or did you celebrate someone recovering from illness? This is all about artwork that was made to celebrate something.

IF it is NOT evident in the piece what the celebration is about, THEN a description MUST explain what is being celebrated.  Do you love a game so much you want to celebrate the game?  Do you love your dog/cat/snake/hedgehog so much that you celebrate the life of your familiar in cross stitch? Show everyone how you celebrate in cross stitch!

This contest begins January 1, 2014 and ends on March 31, 2014
