Tribal Art:  without getting into the whole meaning of the word “tribal” and sticking just to the basics, this statement is referring to the artform of a particular peoples, clan, group, or area.  Just to name a few here, we have Australian Aboriginal, Native American, Maori, Native Alaskan/Canadian, Mayan, African, Asian, Oceana, Micronesian.  Check out this lovely site for more information and stitching ideas www.tribalartmagazine.com/inde…  If you think of a particular peoples, just type their name in the search box and prepare to be amazed!

Totemic Art: Totems are basically symbols and totemic art is a way of telling a story using those symbols.  There are many kinds of “totems”; spirit, engraved, carved, drawn...all bringing artistic meaning to life.

Here are some guidelines to help you get started:

:bulletyellow:  In your comments section please provide a description of what type of tribal or totemic culture you chose for your masterpiece.
Example: “Tlingit Wolf leaping, which represents the Tlingit Wolf Clan from Kake, Alaska.  This type of artwork is seen throughout Alaska and is generally thought of as Native Alaskan Artwork” (this would be the most basic of descriptions and just a heads up...we Muses love stories)

:bulletorange:  The style of the art MUST be tribal and/or totemic.
